About pro rodeo
American professional rodeo traces to 1936 when the Cowboys Turtle Association broke off from a promoter-driven system to give the athletes a seat at the table. That association became the PRCA. The PBR split off in 1992 to build a bull-only tour. The WPRA, founded in 1948, is the oldest women's sports association in the country. Together these three bodies govern the professional tier.
