Zeke Thurston has the high mark. The Wrights have the rest.
Thurston's 91.5 on Beutler & Son's Green Bay tops the saddle bronc season. Behind it, the Wright family stacked the board.
Zeke Thurston nodded for Beutler & Son Rodeo's Green Bay at Rodeo Austin and marked 91.5. That is the best saddle bronc ride anyone has turned in this season, and it paid $12,032.
Everything close behind it has the same last name. Rusty Wright rode Calgary Stampede's Dandy Delight for 91 at the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo and collected $16,000. He matched the number a second time in the same building, 91 on Championship Pro Rodeo's Rebel Yell. Darcy Radel got to 91 there too, on J Bar J's Shady Jacket.
Then the rest of the family. Stetson Wright marked 90.5 on Calgary Stampede's Freedom Xpress at Fort Worth, and 90 on Cervi Championship Rodeo's R Watson's Prairie Fire at San Antonio, where the trip was worth $16,512. Statler Wright put up 90 on Diamond G Rodeo's Lindsey's Thunder, also at San Antonio.
Three Wrights, five rides of 90 or better between them, all out of the winter run. Thurston has the single best trip of the year. The family has the depth. The summer run sorts out which one matters more.
